Easter Fèis
For our 2004 Easter Fèis, held between the 13-16 April 2004, there were a lot of new faces both among the children and the tutors.
New tutor faces were Carina MacLeod, drama who kept everyone entertained. Don’t know where she gets her energy from?
Singing tutor was Sandra MacIntyre another energy charged character.
The wonderfully named Bo Ingham taught the whistle, while James Bremner from the group Daimh taught the bodhran.
Sileas Sinclair made sure all the box players were up to speed, while Anne Barlow fiddled her way through yet another fèis.
Blowing everyone away was the wonderful piper Kevin Moffat, while that hardy duo, Finlay and Angus strummed the week away with the young guitarists.
The clarsach was taught by the experienced Karen Marshalsay and last but by no means least the step-dancing was taught by the lovely and talented Shona MacLellan.
The group work this year led by the more senior participants gave a wonderful demonstration of what can be done with a bit of practice and imagination.
As a small in filler, there was video filming and production which wielded the unlikely Fèis Idol!
A new addition to the usual ceilidh raffle was the new Fèisean nan Gàidheal National Raffle with a first prize of £2.500.
The tutors claimed to have gained extra pounds in weight due to the quality lunches provided by the able and willing volunteer committee assisted this year by a team of “past f‘èis” participants who kept the youngsters occupied and well supervised throughout the week.
Well done everyone!
And of course the weekend after the Easter Fèis saw the Gaelic outward bound course take place. Have a look at our photo report for more details on this adventurous few days!
